Leavin' On A Jet Plane!

To all my loyal readers, I'm sorry I haven't been posting lately.  I have been uber busy getting my tour to Ireland ready to go.  Today is my last day in the office.  I fly out on Tuesday for 10 days in Ireland followed by another 7 in Italy!

I know, it's a tough job but someone has to do it!  :-)

My trusty computer will be travelling with me so I will post photos for sure, and maybe videos if I can figure out how to work my camera.  So check back often or follow me on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/travelwithlindy  so you can come on my journey with me!

And I promise when I get back on June 10th I will get the Portland Girls' Getaway ready for you to book our next trip!

See you in Ireland . . .

Coming Soon – Keep the Date Open!

Canadians travel to the USA for bargain prices on nearly every commodity you can name.  Not only are the prices lower than in Canada but if you choose to shop in Portland, Oregon, you save the sales tax

With its big name shops like Macy’s & Nordstrom; its funky retro shops; the Saturday Market; unique spas; microbrew tours; wine, olive oil & balsamic vinegar tastings; eclectic cuisine; and a plethora of sights to see, you can find something for every taste in this easy-to-traverse city.

This inspired me to put together a Christmas Shopping Tour to Portland.  To optimize our chances of having good weather to explore the Saturday Market, I’m planning on 5 days during the last week of October rather than closer to Christmas.  There will be some fun and laughter, some exploring, and lots of shopping.

I’m presently compiling prices so keep that week open and watch for the big announcement coming soon!

Longing for Amsterdam!

Looking out my office window at the sunshine this morning, I started thinking about Amsterdam. I can’t think of any other city where I would rather spend Spring time. Although I have to admit that Vancouver runs a pretty close 2nd.

I can find cobblestone streets in Gastown; cafes by the water in English Bay, False Creek, Coal Harbor, and Kitsilano; more bike lanes coming all the time; and it even smells like Amsterdam on Vancouver’s streets these days!

But there is an atmosphere in Amsterdam that I can’t get in Vancouver. It could be the ghosts of the old buildings floating in the air longing to tell their stories, the lilting voices of the guides on the canal boats, or simply being surrounded by a language I don’t understand. Whatever it is, I’m missing it this morning. I’m longing to sip my coffee at a sidewalk cafĂ© beside the canals and watch rush hour go by on bicycle!

If you’ve never been to Amsterdam, it is a definite “must see”. I don’t know one person who has strolled those streets who hasn’t absolutely loved it.  Let this video start you dreaming . . .
